"Why Do People Wear Crosses And Crucifixes; When They Don't Know The Implications Of What It Means"

We don't have to wear a cross to be close to God or to honor God.
We don't have to wear a cross to be close to God or to honor God.

"Why Do People Wear Crosses And Crucifixes : When They Don't Know The Implications Of What It Means "

Deuteronomy chapter 5 - 8 ; Thou Shalt not make any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath,or that is in the water beneath the earth This is one of Gods tenth commandments, yet we make pictures of God and Jesus, angels and everything else we want to draw, but how can we make picture of God, Jesus and angels, when none of us have ever seen them, in fact the bible states we cannot look at God and live, so is it okay to draw our own God, Jesus and female angels? We even make crosses of all colors, sterling silver, or 14 KT. gold, wear them like they are a trophy, to be proud of. When we wear that cross around our neck, we're hanging a big burden around our neck that's to heavy for us to carry. Jesus already died on the cross for us, so we wouldn't have too, so why are we doing it.The simplest reason I came up with is : some of us think it's an honor to wear it, and others it's being close to God. I want you to know that it's neither. when I was seventeen, I was given my first sterling silver cross, boy!, I thought it was such a glorious honor to wear it, and I wore it with pride, I later learned that to wear a cross of any kind was putting a burden around my neck; that I wouldn't be able to uphold.

Just think about it, this cross that you hold dear, was a detriment to Jesus, but a blessing to mankind, but I want you to imagine that one of your children got killed with a nine millimeter, would you wear the same nine millimeter around your neck as evidence that it actually happen, I don't think so. We don't have to wear a cross to recognize the fact, that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Died on a wooden cross for you and I, so we wouldn't have too. All we have to do is accept Jesus, get baptised and live our lives according to the word of God. To be honest, wearing a cross or a crucifix doesn't do anything for us, and to be honest, I think it desecrates a sacred thing that Jesus die for us, by dying in our stead. So before you hang a cross around your neck, make sure you know the implications of doing so. when Jesus said to take up your cross and follow me, he didn't mean a wooden cross, or a silver or gold cross, he meant your burdens, your trials and tribulations and follow him, because he the only one that can take care of the problems that we face.
